Cripple of Inishmaan Rehearsal

Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland in 1934, The Cripple of Inishmaan is a strange comic tale in the great tradition of Irish storytelling. As word arrives on Inishmaan that the Hollywood director Robert Flaherty is coming to the neighboring island of Inishmore to film Man of Aran, the one person who wants to be in the film more than anybody is young Cripple Billy, if only to break away from the bitter tedium of his daily life.

Above is the description of the play that I am currently rehearsing. Last night we got to see a model of the set and try on costumes. This show is going to be amazing, probably the best show I have been apart of to date. The set looks amazing. It is constructed in three tiers. The highest tears is the bedroom for the scene with the old mammy and also a Hollywood hotel. It also turns to become apart of the rocky hillside. The center section in the main playing area as the aunt’s shop that turns 180 degrees to be the church where Man of Aran (a real movie) is played. The third tier is the stage floor which is turned into a dock for the curragh that my character, Bobby, fishes with. Zombie Film

I auditioned and got a callback a couple of weeks ago for a zombie short film. The director called and said the part went to someone else, but he liked my audition and wants me for his next film. That is something that rarely happens. Most of the time if you don’t get cast, they don’t bother calling you.

Two days ago the director called and said an actor had committed to another film which bumped up the shoot date meaning he wanted me for the other role that I auditioned with. It goes to show you that it is not always over when you think it is.

The synopsis of the short is two friends (me and another actor) are leaving from a camping trip when we spot a car that has been broken into. While checking it out, three zombies, the original and the two from the car jump out and try to attack us. One zombie jumps on me and bites me before I shoot it which causes me to turn into a zombie and we go after the other friend. I know, I know hokie zombie movie, but hey I might get some good reel out of it.
